If an activity such as Lighting a Unity Candle, Combining Unity Sand, or something similar will be taking place, it's likely that some preparation activity will also be taking place during the Seating of the Parents. For instance, the Bride's mother and the Groom's mother may each light a candle or each deliver a container of colored sand. Later in the ceremony, the Bride and Groom will pick up those two candles and use them to light one larger candle, pick up those two containers of sand and pour them together into one container, or take some other action. The Officiant commonly speaks about what this activity represents and what it symolizes. The songs below are commonly chosen as "background music" to accompany the Lighting of the Unity Candle, the Combining of the Unity Sand, or some other similar action.
